Essential Question: What daily habits and actions will foster stronger relationships and better mental health to allow me to show up every day being the best version of myself?
- Question #1. Have you ever been in a situation where your perception has been affected by possible low brain function caused by stress? Describe how you felt during this situation and what steps you took to destress.
I notice when I come home from teaching my energy in my cognitive mind has less will power. I have tried my best to do yoga, tai chi and meditate to regulate this cognitive burden, other times trying to take a nap or chill out doing nothing. However, I get concerned about making the moment count so I start to creatively write freely about animals or do reflective journaling and start to regain energy, always having peaceful music in the background!
- Question #2. How have you overcome negative thoughts or pessimism?
I just keep on creating / trying to stimulate myself through audio or connection or meditation, go on a walk or go to sleep for the night. I eliminate mindless seeking or searching and try to stimulate myself with something positive or interesting that will allow me to learn something new.
- Question #3. How can you be more present and intentional in your everyday decision making and activities?
I would define presence as a moment in time where we feel understood, where we feel we have a purpose of being in this world, a mindset that we are unique and beautiful and that we matter. Being able to appreciate the beauty of feeling presently alive with suffering while minimizing the damage to harm yourself or others in the process is what I define as self-care. I have invested a lot more energy and time into eliminating unimportant distractions in order to be more present and intentional every day. I created a list of things that I do when I have free time to protect me from staying on track towards my dreams and goals. This has helped improve the attention I give to every moment. I would define this attention as an awakening of a feeling within my five senses for a moment that allows me to awaken and recognize aliveness in everything around me. This will continue to help me achieve my daily dream, which is to spend everything involved with this moment it’s full attention and time!
