Question #1. What global issues and crises (e.g., global warming, mass migration) can challenge an individual’s values and ethics? What forums can an individual use to help better understand how to think, feel, and act?

The current Covid-19 pandemic could challenge an individual's values and ethics. With people getting sick and drying all over and people being forced to stay home to stop the spread, unemployment is surging. People are worried about how to pay bills and will they escape from catching the virus. Desperation may set in and people may resort to things they would not traditionally consider doing to survive. Maybe someone would steal to feed their family if they don't have any income coming in. To combat stress and anxiety over the pandemic, someone can call a friend or join a support group online where people can use an application like Zoom to communicate.

Question #2. What gives you a sense of meaning and purpose in your life? Share what you can about what keeps you focused on achieving?

Family gives me a sense of meaning and purpose in my life. What keeps me focused on achieving is the betterment of myself and my family. I have always been a motivated individual and when I set my mind to something I do it.

Question #3. What can challenge your sense of connectedness to others or purposes? How do you protect yourself from doubt?

Being overworked and short on time can challenge my sense of connectedness to others. When I am too tired, I shut off everyone else and get into survival mode. I just focus on work and everything else falls by the wayside. This happened during student teaching when I had no time for anything else but work and classes. To protect myself from doubt, I remember that I am capable of getting whatever needs to be done done.

Poem: Hanging in
One day at a time
Praying for health and safety
Eventually, things will return back to normal
