I wrote and recorded this poem/song myself at home on my computer around March/April as a tribute to my dad, who suddenly passed away last August. If you're interested, you should be able to listen to it with the google drive link below. I'm not the best singer, but it was therapeutic for me to write and put together. Lyrics below:

“Signs”

Don’t know why you had to go
Hope to meet you in another life
How could we be the lucky ones?
When we have to keep going on?

Sometimes I realize that you’re gone
But I know you’ll be by my side
Through the signs

Could it all be a sign to me
When you said you wanted to live forever?

Sometimes I realize that you’re gone
But I know you’ll be by my side
Through the signs

Signs
I’ll wait
I’ll wait for you
You know I’ll wait
You know I’ll wait
I’ll wait for you

Question #1. What global issues and crises (e.g., global warming, mass migration) can challenge an individual’s values and ethics? What forums can an individual use to help better understand how to think, feel, and act?
Global warming can challenge an individual’s values and ethics because it is not an issue that we can see directly in front of us. It is a slow building crisis, but widely supported as a crisis by the scientific community. As humans are creatures of habit, it is difficult to adjust our lifestyles for the sake of the greater good of preserving the planet and humanity. It is up to each individual to recognize the threats are world faces and act as an example for others. Whether this means championing recycling, carpooling, or supporting progressive agendas that curb climate change, any action that is meaningful can inspire others to do the same.

Question #2. What gives you a sense of meaning and purpose in your life? Share what you can about what keeps you focussed on achieving.
Working with children and young adults gives me a sense of meaning and purpose in my life. I recognize that they are the future and I feel my purpose is to do my small part in shaping a brighter future for them and inspiring them to feel as though they can contribute positively to the world around them. Music also gives me a sense of meaning and purpose. I love writing and recording music about my life with my friends and always look forward to sharing that joy with an audience as well as writing about personal things other people may relate to.

Question #3. What can challenge your sense of connectedness to others or purposes? How do you protect yourself from doubt?
Sometimes there are days when the world feels like it is about to fall apart and there is nothing we can do. Sometimes there are days when it truly looks like the world is about to fall apart. I protect myself from doubt by reminding myself that not only is it a miracle to be alive, but also to be in a privileged position in which I have the means and the ability to make the world seem a little less dark for others.
