Question #1: What are some great ways to be active?
I personally love walking every day! Even if you're pressed for time, a 30-minute walk outside does wonders for your body and mind. I also try to do yoga a few times a week- many people don't consider yoga to be exercise, but it takes a lot of strength and endurance! I am not a fan of running, but I know the benefits outweigh any discomfort I might feel in the moment.
Question #2: How do you maintain an active lifestyle when you have so many other demands on your time?
I have to admit, I don't always maintain an active lifestyle, especially when I have so many other demands on my time. That being said, I try to prioritize movement as much as I can throughout the day, even if it's only for a few minutes. For example, when I am teaching remotely I always make sure I participate in the movement breaks I give my students. These breaks are usually 3-minute dance videos or yoga/stretching! I figured when I'm sitting at my desk all day, why wouldn't I take every opportunity to get up and move a little?
Question #3: How do you find a balance between all of the things you are supposed to do to stay healthy?
Finding a balance between all of the things I am supposed to do to stay healthy has been difficult, especially during my last semester of grad school/working multiple jobs. Sometimes it just doesn't happen, and that's okay! I try to remember that I don't have to work out like crazy to be healthy; it's all about balance. On days that I move less, I try to make myself a healthy meal and drink plenty of water. Like I said before, I try to take every opportunity to be active during my busy days, even if it's taking the stairs instead of the elevator (I've been doing this a lot!).
