I get very nervous when I give group presentations to a class. This puts me very on-edge and I can not put together thoughts as coherently as usual. I feel paralyzed by anxiety. I often need to tell myself that the stakes are not as high as my emotions are signaling. This makes it easier for me complete the task. Afterwards, I will sometimes watch some television as a reward for completion and to de-stress.

In general, I am overcome with negative thoughts when I am overwhelmed with work. In order to overcome these thoughts, I have to step back and tell myself to relax and that it is not as big a deal as it seems. In order to address the overwhelming amount of work, I need to break it down into more manageable pieces and get started on it as soon as I can. The starting of a task is the hardest part for me.

In order to be more present and intentional in my decision-making and activities, I need to make sure to not let my stress and emotions affect my productivity. This requires me to minimize the stakes or stress of the task ahead of me. When I am more relaxed, I do a better job at completing the tasks.
