Question #1. Have you ever been in a situation where your perception has been affected by possible low brain function caused by stress? Describe how you felt during this situation and what steps you took to destress.

I definitely think I have been in situations where because of how stressed I’ve been, I have misinterpreted things. During those times I’ve felt like I was in a kind of fog. Like everything I am experiencing is kind of fuzzy because of the stress I have, and I can’t see things clearly the way I normally would if I wasn’t as stressed. The biggest steps I take to de-stress is just mentally taking a step back for a second and taking a breath and reminding myself I have more than enough time to do everything and that everything will be alright. It doesn’t help 100% but it calms me down so I can focus better.

Question #2. How have you overcome negative thoughts or pessimism?
I think it can be very hard at times to overcome thought of negativity, especially when you are stressed. I think I would do the same thing, just take a step back and remind myself of all the things I have accomplished and remember how in those moments I felt negatively and I ended up succeeding and even if I didn’t, I learned something from the experience. I think it’s important to remind yourself of all the things you have gone through and experienced.

Question #3. How can you be more present and intentional in your everyday decision making and activities?
To be more present and intentional in my everyday decisions and activities I think you have to actually take a moment to really think before doing them and that can be hard. People don’t always have the time to stop and think before doing something. Some actions and tasks might require immediate reactions but in cases where you don’t need to immediately respond, I think people should try and take a second to think “ok, what will happen after I do this” if the scenario calls for it.
