Question #1: I think that online gaming is so popular, because they are fast-paced and exciting, competitive, risk-free (no real consequences for losses), and provide an escape from reality. I think there are positives and negatives when it comes to online gaming. I think that being engaged in any type of strategy-based game provides good cognitive exercise. I think that feeling excited or fulfilled by a "win" is probably healthy. But all of this can become detrimental when a person becomes addicted to the feelings that these games provide. If one plays games too much (more than 3 hours/per day) and prefers or depends upon the satisfaction provided by the simulated environment rather than genuine human interaction, one begins to break down healthy and authentic social/emotional growth.
Question #2: I manage my study schedule much like I manage dinnertime. Suddenly it seems, it's 6:00PM and how in the world am I going to pull it all together? I say a prayer to the Holy Spirit to help me do the impossible, think carefully, act quickly, and get it done. Obviously, learning requires more attention, but thankfully I am very interested in what I am learning about, so being engaged in my tasks is easy. This is a perfect illustration of why I must be engaging and exciting as an educator. As, far as success goes, it's a combination of the Holy Spirit and my understanding of the material.
Question #3: I work at remembering new things by writing things down, reading them back, restating them, telling someone about it (start a discussion) and quickly applying them to something I already know. These "multi-sensory" tactics helps me to remember things that otherwise are quickly forgotten.
