I like to create mnemonic devices to help me remember (or retain) important information, such as PEMDAS which stands for the order of operations used to solve mathematical equations (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction). It is also an acronym for the phrase we all learned in elementary school, "Please, excuse my dear aunt Sally." I also find myself making annotated lists with (or without) illustrations because I am basically a visual learner. In addition, to writing in longhand, I frequently take stenographic notes (in shorthand) because it is faster, easier to remember, and facilitates the writing/transcribing process.
