Question #1. Online gaming is so popular because it offers an exciting type of escapism or competition depending on the games. It can allow people to pretend to be different characters or participate in all kinds of adventures they would probably never have in the real world. They are very engaging and can also appeal to people's competitive side. This can lead to great learning opportunities for games that integrate educational aspects directly or indirectly. It can be a fun way for kids to enjoy practicing skills that would normally feel like all work by allowing them to do it through play. For example, playing a game with multiplication facts is a lot for fun than sitting there with flashcards.
Question #2. How do you manage your study schedule when faced with doubt about your capacity to engage, learn, and succeed? That continues to be one of my greatest struggles, really. I always have such high goals and expectations that they require a large amount of time and energy that is hard to come by. I really need to get better at working on things in smaller increments rather than waiting for a time that fits the size of the project in my schedule.
Questions #3. Repeating things aloud is helpful for me. I also find it really good to write them down to visually remind myself. Even if I lose the piece of paper, I'll remember the process of writing it and sometimes that can help remember some of the information. Silly little rhymes, songs, or phrases are also great. For example, I still remember the base pairs GC & AT in DNA from my high school teacher’s phrase “George Clooney is All That”. I couldn’t tell you anything else about it, but I can tell you which will be part of the same pair!
